1954 Hudson Hornet - $115,000 - Warwick NY 10990, NY -

This car has the 7X Motor, it has special internals, bolts, head and cam as per engine specs. It is the 210BPH motor and is original to this car. It was rebuilt in the 90's along with the restoration of the vehicle. The car has exactly 4,306 miles since its' rebuild. This is an old vehicle and as such does leak a little fluid when it is not utilized. The engine has been recently tuned (both carbs and linkages adjusted, plugs, oils etc). The transmission is a Hydro-matic 3 speed with the 4th overdrive, it shifts well and does require tuning from time it time, it drives like a semi-automatic should. The rear end and drive train are in excellent shape, the car runs very well its smooth and cruises on the highway with no difficulty. There are no strange noises that I am aware of, it is old technology and a convertible so its not as quiet as todays Mercedes convertible cars are.
This Hudson has power windows, power convertible top, power steering and power brakes (all work well). The brakes have been converted to DISC brakes mainly for safety, and an air conditioning unit has been installed. The radio is original and has also been adapted to work with FM. The stereo system of the car has been upgraded and there are speakers under the seats and hidden in the rear on the car to maintain originality. The interior is in BEAUTIFUL condition, all of the seats and panels are excellent, the dashboard is as it should be, and all of the gauges work! The speedometer works well, the only gauge that isn't working is the temperature gauge so an aftermarket gauge displays temperature (see picture) Gas gauges, speed gauges, and other gauges all work well. Blower motor and temperature functions all work well. All of the rubber seals and weather stripping are excellent.
The body of this car is one EXCELLENT shape. there are only 3 total scratches on this car. There is one on the passenger door (see picture) and one on the bottom of the drivers' door along with the rocker panel (under drivers' door). the chrome is in perfect condition with no damage anywhere. Everything was re-chromed and its all in 100% condition. I have taken pictures of any damage (if any) anywhere on the vehicle. All of the electronics and lights work well, there are no issues with paint or any body issues, this car is 100% metal and was professionally frame off restored and painted in the 90's. The color is now NAVY BLUE the interior color is original.  The original color of this car is a light blue color (almost teal) and the top was lighter as well. This top has glass and is in perfect condition with no damage tears or wear at any place.  The cars undercarriage is in perfect shape, there is no rust or issues anywhere, the panels, the floors, the frame or any place underneath. The tires are in new condition (white wall) the inner trunk floors and panels are solid, no rust anywhere.
The engine is healthy and runs excellent, it starts almost immediately, it has been tuned (twin carbs twin H motor). All of the fluids have been replaced and the car has been inspected for the sale. The engine has been verified and the transmission inspected. The brakes have all been adjusted and the cars condition assessed. This is a very rare car and even more so in this condition and with these options. Please call me if you have any questions (845) 987 9267 to discuss the vehicle if need be. I am the 3rd owner of the vehicle, have had it 20+ years. there are 100+ Pictures available for viewing, Please email me if you are serious for those.

1951 Hudson Hornet with Twin H Power!

Hudson Hornets burned up the NASCAR circuit during 1951, winning 12 of the 41 grand national contests held that year. A special "Twin H Power" dual carbuerated Hudson driven by Marshall Teague took the checkered flag at the second Southern 500 race at Darlington, South Carolina, with an average speed of 86.21 mph. Contemporary tests rated the Twin H powered Hudson to have a top speed of 107 mph. All from a flathead straight 6 engine! They were clearly the car to beat and became legendary in stock car racing history.

While the early history of this particular car is unknown, it has been collector-owned for many years and was restored as-needed during the mid-1980's. This included new correct Hudson "Naples Green" paint on the body with "Jefferson Green" inserts. The seats were re-upholstered in correct color and style, along with new carpeting inside. Most importantly, the 308 cubic inch Hornet engine and Twin H carburetors were fully rebuilt. Recently it received a new set of correct wide whitewall bias ply tires.

This car presents nicely today. While a seasoned restoration, it has held well. The paint and trim are nice, the body and chassis appears to be rust-free throughout, and the interior is very nice. Please see photos. Inside it is optioned with a working Hudson radio and heater. All lights and gauges work.

Mechanically, this Hudson runs and drives well. Quiet and smooth. Plenty of power when the Twin H carbs kick-in. This car is optioned with the 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISION WITH FACTORY OVERDRIVE. The perfect combination for the road (or racing!) It is a pleasure to drive. Please see video of engine running.

This is the ideal car for touring. It is ready to go. Would also be a great candidate for vintage racing events. The choice is yours.

HISTORY

The first-generation Hudson Hornets featured a functional "step-down" design with dropped floorpan and a chassis with a lower center of gravity than contemporary vehicles that helped the car handle well a bonus for racing. The Hornet's lower and sleeker look was accentuated by streamlined styling, sometimes called "pontoon" styling. The car's "unique, low slung appearance and silky handling earned Hudson an image that for many buyers eclipsed luxury marques like Cadillac. SOURCE:  WIKIPEDIA

CLASSIC CAR RESTORATIONS:

The termrestoration in context to the vintage car world has taken on a definition of its own. For some people, a restoration is simply painting a car and replacing items as needed, while for others, restoration means an extensive disassembly and overhaul, with each piece getting rebuilt or replaced.

As a consumer, it's important to understand the basics of restoration levels for it can impact classic car values substantially. There are hundreds of ways to restore a vintage car or truck including but not limited to the following: i). Frame off restoration. Body of vehicle is completely taken off the frame and restoration includes body, frame, floor pans (top and bottom), etc. these restorations tend to be extensive and costly. ii). Rotisserie restoration. These restorations are when the body (or body and frame on a unibody vehicle) are disassembled and restored utilizing a rotisserie. Body of vehicle is completely taken off the frame and restoration includes body, frame, floor pans (top and bottom), etc. these restorations tend to be extensive and costly and iii). Cosmetic or driver quality restoration. These restoration are typically limited to cosmetic items including paint and body, interior, trim and emblems, etc. Within the three levels or restoration mentioned above, there can be varying quality from an in the garage / amateur restoration to a high dollar professional concours restoration. There is a universal 100 point grading system rating classic car conditions ranging from 100 being excellent to 20 being unrestorable.

In addition to the levels of restoration above, it's important to understand the type of restoration as well for it can also impact value substantially. Type of restorations include: i). Factory or stock restoration. This type of restoration is geared towards restoring the car or truck to stock specs from the factory as if it were new. These types of restorations use original or oem (original equipment manufacturer) where possible. Factory original restorations tend to bring the highest dollars from collectors. ii). Custom restoration. These types of restorations are geared towards builder preference over factory stock. These can be refereed to as customs or hot rods. Typically these vehicles will have custom paint work, aftermarket wheels, suspension upgrades, power plant transplants, etc. A specific sector of custom restoration vehicles is pro-touring or restomod / restomods which are custom built with a more modern street performance and creature comforts than the original factory vehicle.

Please note that WWVA is not a restoration shop nor do we restore vehicles to any degree.

For questions on what type or level of restoration of any of our vehicles in inventory please call our vintage sales expert today at 1-877-422-2640.

We provide approximately 75 HD images, and an HD video, in every one of our listings.  Very few companies offer this much detail.  We spend significant time inspecting and disclosing detailed items on all of our vehicles; however, at the end of the day, we are not you... we highly suggest that you come and inspect the vehicle.

The information contained in this ad is solely for convenience.  The description is an opinion only and should not be considered a complete description of any or all faults; it may not be relied upon nor taken as fact or otherwise a representation or warranty of any sort.  Please note, we did NOT build or restore the vehicle. Vehicles are sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS with all faults known/unknown and with no implied warranty.  Unless shown in the photographs, we do NOT have documentation, receipts, or photographs of the vehicle listed.

We do not recommend driving a classic car home. Many classic cars are not driven often and tend to sit for long periods of time making them unsuitable for cross-country road trips. We strongly recommend shipping the vehicle.

We sell our vehicles mileage-exempt, meaning we do not know the actual, original miles. The information listed in the ad is based on the current odometer reading or from rebuild information provided by the builder, and cannot be used as fact.

Most of these vehicles do not have Carfax or Autocheck history reports; unless the vehicle is 1981 or newer, a Carfax or Autocheck history will not exist.

1955 Hudson Hornet - $16,995 - Memphis, IN - This beautiful and rare 1955 Hudson Hornet is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. In its final two years of production the Hornet became a product of the newly formed American Motors Corporation (AMC). The Detroit plant was closed and Hudson Models were shifted to the Nash??s Kenosha Wisconsin facility. The Hudson??s would be based on the senior Nash models but would have exclusive Hudson Styling. The first-generation Hudson Hornets featured a functional step-down design with dropped floorpan and a chassis with a lower center of gravity than contemporary vehicles that helped the car handle well ? a bonus for racing. Hudson was the first automobile manufacturer to get involved in stock car racing. The Hornet dominated stock car racing in the early-1950s when stock car racers actually raced stock cars. Overall Hudson won 27 of the 34 NASCAR Grand National races in 1952 followed by 22 wins of 37 in 1953 and capturing 17 of the 37 races in 1954 ? an incredible accomplishment especially from a car that had some legitimate luxury credentials. By the owner??s own account this Hornet is one of the nicer one still being driven. Under the hood is the original 308 CID Inline 6 cylinder engine. The engine has a set of dual carburetors with air cleaners giving it a nice sporty look. The engine has been treated to a new water pump fuel pump rebuilt carburetors and the fuel tank has been reconditioned and sealed. This Hornet has even been tuned up and is ready for the road! The exterior is the original color scheme but has had one repaint. The interior is plush and looks to be all original. This Hornet has been pampered and has less than 48000 original miles! If you have been looking for a clean classic that you can take to car shows or drive on a daily basis but don??t want to bust the bank this Hornet is an excellent choice. Options on this 1955 Hudson Hornet include AM Radio Vinyl Interior with Cloth Inserts Hub Caps with Steel Wheels wrapped in Wide White Wall Radial Tires. This one of a kind 1955 Hudson Hornet can be seen including an HD video at www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
